Chapman’s season was highlighted by four one-hitters, including a shutout against then-No. 18 Valdosta State in which she struck out 10 batters. She was twice named the GSC Pitcher of the Week, first on March 1 and then on April 19 after the series against Delta State. Sassman was the only freshman to make the first team, and she also made the team as a utility player, getting recognition for her time at shortstop, third base and catcher during the season. She has been one of the best freshmen in the conference, leading UWF in doubles (14), triples (6) and total bases (98). Sassman’s 98 total bases are the most in a single season for a UWF player since 2010, and her six triples are the most for UWF since 2002.
