Steve Clarke: Reading CAN shock Arsenal… just like Bradford against Chelsea

first_imgReading manager Steve Clarke believes Bradford City’s stunning FA Cup victory over Chelsea this season can inspire them to a shock semi-final triumph over Arsenal at Wembley. The Royals face a tough task as they take on an in-form Gunners side who have won their last eight games. But, having seen the Bantams, who currently play in League One, defeat Jose Mourinho’s Premier League leaders 4-2 back in January, Clarke doesn’t subscribe to the theory his charges have no chance against their opponents. He told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: “There are cases in history where teams go to Wembley or play a big team and have no chance but we look at Bradford going to Stamford Bridge this year, they had no chance but they managed to beat Chelsea.“There is always a chance, in football it’s 11 against 11. Arsenal are a good team and they’re on a great run at the moment. It’s a fabulous run of winning games, but sometimes they have to end.”However, Clarke did concede it would take a monumental performance for his side to succeed and reach the FA Cup final. He added: “We have to play the perfect game. You have to play a game where you don’t make a mistake and allow the opposition to capitalise on them. That’s the key to the game.”last_img read more
